Mission
ANC training is nautical in nature and includes waterborne activities. Activities can include, but are not limited to, navigation, communications, first aid, drill, maritime history, firearms proficiency and adventurous training. The ANC also aims to achieve the following with its training program:
- develop an interest in the Navy and its tradition;
- encourage cadets to continue military or community service;
- give cadets a foundation of military knowledge and discipline;
- develop the qualities of leadership, self-discipline, self-reliance and initiative; and
- provide training that may later assist in achieving competencies required during Navy induction training.
Purpose
The Australian Navy Cadets is a personal development program for young people, conducted by the Australian Navy in cooperation with the community, which is designed to benefit the nation by developing the individual, their community and the Australian Navy.

The Australian Navy Cadets adopts the values of the Australian Navy - Service, Courage, Respect, Integrity and Excellence - to empower youth to achieve their potential.

Service to each other and the community underpins everything in the ADF cadet programs.

Courage is essential for developing resilience and creating and maintaining a safe culture for youth.

Respect is central to treating others with dignity, building trust, and providing a safe environment.
INTEGRITY
Integrity sets a foundation for moral and ethical strength in doing the right thing.

Excellence is the pursuit of safe and positive opportunities and experiences, both individually and as an organisation.
