The Bridge Operations Elective is a blended program of self-directed learning activities, facilitator-led Unit based activities and the conduct of scenarios within a simulation of a working warship’s bridge.
The Elective requires the use of ANC’s computer-based simulation – “Bridge Command”. Bridge Command is an interactive 3D ship and radar simulator. It is a training tool for navigation, radar, ship handling and other seamanship skills. A computer-based simulation immerses cadets in a realistic scenario where training, adaptation, and critical thinking can be demonstrated and perfected.
The Bridge Operations Elective is a non-assessed activity package that provides cadets an opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to participate safely and effectively in bridge operations. The associated learning activities are designed to challenge students of different educational levels to be ‘hands-on’. The cadets will enjoy direct feedback in the form of success and/or partial success from each simulation activity. As their knowledge, skill and confidence improves they can take part in advance simulation-based activities.
