This program provides an introductory awareness of basic first aid skills and knowledge within the maritime context. The purpose of this elective is to enhance the ANC experience and develop general life skills of Cadets.
Whilst the First Aid content of the First Aid Program has been developed by ANC staff who hold qualifications across nursing, emergency medicine and general practice within the Australian Defence Force, Cadets who successfully complete Level 1, 2 or 3 of the FA Program will not receive a formal accredited first aid certificate or statement of attainment to qualify as a certified first aider. Rather, they will be awarded an Accomplishment and the relevant First Aid badge (bronze, silver or gold) that can be worn on the issued brassard.
Our new First Aid elective explores a variety of skills required to deliver initial
care to an injured or ill person until medical assistance arrives. A cadet will learn how to assess a scene and apply first aid principles to both simple and complex situations.
*Note: This training does not provide cadets with a formal qualification.
